Lush subtropical gardens and eerie bogfields, colourful old fisher boats or modern marinas,
a very special flora and fauna and not least - a wealth of historical monuments since Neolithic times, with the most famous and outstanding Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - see photos and articles here..., will engage your mind and photographer´s eyes and make you feel on top of the world.
There are lovely little villages like Portmagee with its fishing harbour and departing pier for Skellig Michael; Ballinskelligs with two sandy beaches and an old castle and a monastery ruin right by the sea; Waterville, where Charly Chaplin used to be on vacation; Knightstown on Valentia Island, where the Atlantic Cable was operated from; and Caherciveen, our little town with a Marina and Marine Activity Centre and two imposing Ringforts.
Only half an hour´s drive away we are at the feet of the highest mountains in Ireland, which are a great sight to behold all year round!
We will spend a lot of our time, approx. 8 hours per day, and start most of our tours from Portmagee, which is a lively and compact little village, even outside the tourist season, see articles and photos on my blog .
The above brochure shows an itinerary for a seven day photo holiday which can be booked for individuals or groups, the scheduled five day landscape photography holidays (see dates and prices) will still fit in all the mentioned places though. Weather conditions might change the scedule a bit as we will go with the best light and weather, but I promise to show you all my favourite places, from dusk to dawn.
We will also use my and /or your laptops with imaging software like lightroom and photoshop for post editing our images.
And there is of course enough time for "Show and Talk" about your photos.
As we do not know which accomodation you prefer, there are hostels, B&Bs, a guesthouse with pub and restaurant, hotels and also numerous holiday houses, if you wish to bring family or friends- we leave that choice to you but will certainly help you to find something suitable to your taste and budget and book it for you.
The nearest airport is Kerry Airport in Farranfore with about one hours drive
or Shannon Airport and Cork Airport with appr. 2 1/2 hours drive.
There is only limited public transport in this area, you might as well hire a car to be independent for your stay here.
Transport to shooting locations can be organised, at some extra costs.
Again, we aim to make your stay as stress free as possible!
